Seemed like a calm enough day as Orest and Matt climbed into the Jeep at Pyle. Who could predict wind, rain, freezing temps, sleet, snow would be lurking out in them thar hills ?
Given the weather, the hike was cut short to just the first loop of the trail, about 10.5 miles total with a few side-trips. Along the way, we saw quite a bit of burn damage. Kind of eerie wandering around amongst the blackened tree trunks - sometimes it was tough to find the trail !

And - of course- nothing caps a good day of hiking like dinner in Rye !
