Locket Meadow to Humphrey’s Peak

Climb to the highest point in Arizona (12,633 ft). See the only true alpine tundra Arizona has to offer along with some fantastic views. We’ll be car camping at Lockett Meadow Campground which is also the trailhead to the hike. We will be leaving Friday early afternoon to secure a campsite. Due to the length of this hike, we will begin to hike to Humphrey’s early Saturday morning. If up for it, we can camp Saturday night too.

Difficulty:Difficult
Start Elevation: 8540 ft
Elevation Gain: 4100 ft
Distance (RT): 15 mi
Drive Time: 2 hr
Meeting Place/Time: 1:00 p.m. Pyle Recreation Center, 1:45 p.m. I17 & Bell Denny’s.
Water: Bring at least 3 liters of water
Special Instructions: Bring car camping gear, drinking water and meals. There is a $10 campsite fee. Bring rain gear and some warmer layers. Humphrey’s can be cold and windy year round.
