Humphrey’s Peak Hike and Car Camp

Climb to the highest point in Arizona (12,633 ft). See the only true alpine tundra Arizona has to offer along with some fantastic views. We will be car camping along the Freidlein Prairie Road Friday night. This is a primitive campground (no facilities) at about 8000 ft elevation. Staying at a higher elevation overnight will help us acclimate to the peak’s elevation. We’ll begin the hike to Humphrey’s early Saturday morning to avoid the monsoons.

Elevation Gain: 3300 ft
Distance (RT): 9 mi
Drive Time: 2 hr
Meeting Place/Time: 6:00 p.m. Pyle Recreation Center, 6:45 p.m. I17 & Bell Denny’s.
